Goal Setting

Goals are small visions that move us toward the big vision.  They need to be specific. They should be given a time frame to complete them. Of course, you need to be conscious of the ages of your family members. Assign your children their goals until they are old enough to realize their own. Once they are old enough, you can mix the two.

Be sure to set goals for all the important areas of your life: spiritual, physical, financial and relational.

Think of 3-4 goals you can set for the year that will help you move closer to your mission statement. After writing your goals, list some ways that you will be able to accomplish that.

Example: Your mission states you are a family that focuses on the needs of people abroad.

Your goal: to go on your first trip abroad to help in an orphanage.

Your path: raising money through car washes and garage sales and letters to friends and families, locating an organization to go with and finally set a date.

It would be beneficial to revisit your goals every quarter to keep yourselves on track. Of course, once a year, set new goals and celebrate the one you set last year that you accomplished.

Happy goal setting!
